FRIENDS
Hof Narr is a vegan farm located in Egg, ZH. They rescue farm animals that would have otherwise gone to slaughter and pets that are sadly, no longer wanted.
The main reason we are big fans is because of their work to help TRANSFARM 'traditional' farms to a vegan alternative. There are many farmers that want to change but do not know how and Hof Narr show them how it can be done and support them with their transition.
We are proud to be members of Mossy Earth, an inspiring company whose main aim is, by restoring eco systems, to deliver real environmental change and make a positive impact on the state of the planet's wilderness. As a member, this means 8 trees are planted every month.
This non-profit, animal welfare organisation based in Lebanon are doing amazing work to rescue, treat and home animals in Beirut.
They are a Swiss partner organisation of Beirut for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (BETA).
Take a look at their Instagram page to see the amazing work they are doing for yourself.
zero waste shops
Unpackaged shops sell all kinds of food, cosmetics, cleaning products etc without any packaging. You can fill your own containers with as much or as little as you need which reduces packaging as well as waste. Several ingredients in our soaps come unpackaged from these shops such as cinnamon, coffee, turmeric and poppy seeds.
A list of locations can be found on www.zerowasteswitzerland.ch

The quality of the ingredients we use in our soaps is very important to us and we also spend a lot of time and energy finding suppliers that have similar ethics and use sustainable ways to package their products. It is important for us to give our customers not only a zero waste product but ensure them that they are buying from a company that does their best to keep any waste to an absolute minimum and keep their impact on our planet as low as possible, throughout the whole supply chain and production process.
olive oil
Organic, cold-pressed and unrefined. We buy it from our organic local supplier in recyclable metal containers (with a small plastic lid).
coconut oil
We buy organic coconut oil from a Swiss supplier in 25kg boxes with a thin plastic liner. In the future, we would like to be able to buy in bigger quantities to save packaging.
sunflower oil
Organic, cold-pressed and unrefined. We buy this through our organic local supplier. Unfortunately we haven't been able to find this plastic free although we do buy it in 12 litre bags to save as much waste as possible. Please contact us if you are a supplier using metal containers!
shea butter
We use organic and unrefined shea butter from SHEA YEAH in Zürich. They have visited the farmers in Ghana so can assure us that it is fairly produced. It is delivered to us in a plastic bag inside a cardboard box. The packaging is the original packaging from Ghana and this is currently the only option they have available to ensure the butter stays clean and fresh.
essential oils
Pure, organic essential oils. They come in glass or metal bottles with a small plastic lid.
clays & charcoal
We buy these from a small company called The Clay Cure who specialise in clays. They come in compostable packaging.
spices, coffee & seeds
We use organic cinnamon, coffee, poppy seeds and turmeric in our soaps. These are all bought locally from unpackaged / Zero Waste stores.
flowers
The petals we use in our soaps are from organically grown flowers from our allotment / home garden.
COMMON QUESTIONS
WHAT DOES COLD PROCESS MEAN?
Cold Process soapmaking is a way of mixing oils (olive, sunflower, coconut, shea) with an alkali (lye). The result is a chemical process called saponification, where the composition of the oils change with the help of the lye to create a bar of soap. This process involves a 4-6 week curing time so some patience is needed! Once the soap is fully cured, there won't be any lye remaining.
WHY ARE CIRCLE SOAPS SQUARE?
The name ''Circle'' represents a life-cycle rather than the shape of the soap. As all ingredients come from the ground or a plant and will return to the earth once the soap has been used, they complete a full circle.
HOW LONG WILL MY SOAP LAST?
Hopefully not very long if you enjoy using it! To help your soap last longer, store in a well draining soap dish so it can dry in between uses. Although the soap will be fine to use for much longer, it is best to use within 6 months as the natural scents / colours can fade over time.
ARE ALL YOUR PRODUCTS VEGAN?
Yes. They are all 100% vegan and always will be! We don't yet have the vegan certification just because it is not economically viable for our small business.
are you qualified to make soap?
Emma completed a course in England to learn the essentials of soap making as well as laws and regulations. All of our cosmetic soap recipes have been approved by a qualified chemist and are certified safe for sale.
ARE ALL YOUR SOAPS ORGANIC?
All ingredients used in the soaps, deodorants and bath salts are certified organic (where possible).
are your soaps tested on animals?
No! The only animals tested on are us!
WHAT IS YOUR RETURN POLICY?
Due to hygiene reasons, we cannot accept returns or exchanges once the soaps have been used.
We hope you will enjoy the soap and will not want to return it but please do get in touch if there is something you are not happy with. We welcome any comments and / or suggestions.
